Expert Session on “Federated Learning”

The Department of CSE-Data Science, ABESIT Ghaziabad organized an expert session on “Federated Learning” on 26th April 2025, with Dr. Karan Verma, Associate Professor & HoD-CSE Department at NIT Delhi, as the distinguished speaker. The session aimed to introduce students and faculty to the evolving field of federated learning. This machine learning paradigm enables multiple entities to collaboratively train models while keeping their data decentralized, thereby enhancing privacy and security.

The Expert conducted sessions on real-world applications of federated learning, particularly in sectors where data privacy is paramount, such as healthcare and finance. The talk also addressed the challenges associated with federated learning, including data heterogeneity, communication efficiency, and model convergence. Future research directions were also highlighted.

After interacting with students, the honourable expert interacts with faculty members of different departments. This session was designed to explore potential research collaborations and PhD supervision opportunities, particularly in the areas of machine learning, data privacy, and distributed systems. Experts emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary approaches to tackle complex problems in federated learning.
